Two sailors on a damaged yacht in the Tasman Sea are being rescued at sea.

Image Source  A rescue mission in the Tasman Sea is underway to save two sailors. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) first said that the sailors were from New Zealand, buhaveas now changed its position. The AMSA has been organizing the rescue of crew members from a 14.2m sailboat that is now 164 nautical miles (305 kilometers) east of Lord Howe Island . A family member alerted authorities at about 3 a.m. (A) yesterday that the yacht had met heavy weather, was taking on water and had suffered steering problems. Yesterday morning, at 5 a.m. (AEST), an emergency beacon was triggered. "AMSA's Melbourne-based challenger rescue aircraft has responded, as other Royal Australian Air Force aircraft that have been above since yesterday," it stated. "The NSW Police vessel 'Nemesis,' as well as two merchant vessels, are on their way, but are not anticipated to arrive until this afternoon or tonight."
